The power of marketing incentives…

It's not easy being a marketer.

Our job is to move people from consideration to action.

Over the years, I discovered two effective ways to get people to act.

The first—and very obvious one—is by having a big sale.

And when the sale is 50-percent off, you can come at it from two different angles.

The first is focusing on getting two for the price of one. The other angle is a buy one, get one free positioning.

This can be very effective and marketers typically use it sparingly.

A second way to help people down the path to a decision is to include a strong bonus.

It helps when that bonus has real value.

Is it something people have actually paid for?

Could your audience receive immediate benefits from the bonus?  

If you really want to move people, consider combining the sale and the bonus together.
